Taare Zameen Par... a must watch for Everybody

Sheer brilliance from Aamir Khan...Once again proving why he is so different in this Indian Film fraternity. One of the best dictatorial work I have ever seen in recent times. All the very best to Aamir for this brilliant work and wish to see more in future from him. The boy is just brilliantly cast and he acted superbly. Story is told like a fairy tell. You eyes will get wet some time and believe me that is no difference for most of the audience. I feel every parents should see this movie. You would get to remember your childhood days while watching the film as you would compel to do so.......

29th Dec 2007
Watched again today.... And I want to see many more times. As because I have never seen any film like this ever before in my life. Many many good wishes to Aamir...I would be very happy to see this movie go to Oscars as Indian entry.

SIDR, Bangladesh

I don’t know whether it’s the fallout of Global Warming that has started or not, but it was sheer bad luck of a small and beautiful nation Bangladesh for sure that the cyclone ‘SIDR’ had struck this nation on 16th Nov 2007. Bad luck because it could easily be West Bengal. And I can’t imagine what would be the massacre that would happen to my beautiful state then. As I can’t imagine what is the actual condition of Bangladesh right now. Yesterday, I read in one of the newspaper that electricity and telephone lines are all destroyed or not-working. Obviously then we are not getting the actually facts and results of the casualties. This morning I saw in one news channel that foods and water are being distributed from helicopters and people literally fighting for existence there. I don’t know how that mother with her child in her womb can get her foods.
It’s already 1800 people dead, Govt. saying. It’s not hard to imagine that the numbers are going to be more. But what are we waiting for before helping them? Why we can’t understand that this could be easily be India in place of Bangladesh.

Saawariya - Om Shathi Om - Jab We Met

Saawariya - Om Shathi Om

This year’s Diwali special was two Hindi films Saawariya and OSO (the short form). One was from high profile Director Sanjay Leela Banshali and other from the superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Now I know by critic’s choice, people’s verdict and most importantly Box office’s collection it’s OSO and SRK still the show by a mile. Saawariya’s SLB is not going accept that his is a flop and still arguing that they are hit at least by the collection this flim has managed to get.
I have watched both the movies, and frankly both the films are hyped. Just imagine any other actor in place of SRK in the film OSO. Everyone will say such a baseless story and overacting and irritating film. To me, this was a two and half hour SRK show, where he has done all his crazy things and uses his network to show more than half of bollywood’s actors and actresses. So, I thought that my money returned.
Now, Saawariya is colorful and esthetically done and there I finished. Really I don’t have anything more to say. SLB made a film that he conceives in his creative mind which is fairy tell of a love story with some contemporary masala’s included. But surly that does not touch most of the audiences.

Jab We Met

Now here is a refreshing movie without any pretention. Songs are wonderful. And Shaid and Kareena are superb and act like never before. A young and lovely movie made after quite a time. That’s it. It’s a must go and watch.

Apna Assman

I have watched this movie yesterday and I found it very interesting and a different film. This film has a dramatic way (theater like) of story telling which is larger than life sometime. But, the point that this movie try to make is clear and clean. In fact, from the realistic point of view, this is a story of a middle class who 'day dreams' for all that he does not have and try to achieve that all his life. Here they are concern for their children. Director, Kaushik Roy shows that dream come to true in his story and pointed out there is no 'short cuts' in life for success. The film does not have any problem of slow pace or showing non-sense materials. You really need to take your brain with u, when u go to watch it and think about it.

Chak De!!!

Without any doubt this one is SRK's one of the best performance. This film is again showing the maturity that Bollywood is getting day by day. It is a commendable direction by Shimit Amin with equally good scripted by Jaideep Sahni. Now the story of the film is quite predictable but the merit is in the story telling. The film kept me tightly bond with it till the end. In the first half; it's a bit slow sometime, but it's ok, and I find it quite interesting and attracting in the second half.

All the characters are well chosen and they seemed to me raw and beautiful. Out of the 16 girls I have not seen most of the earlier but they looks to me very well casted. Specially I like 'Angry Panjabi Kudi' and 'Komal'. They are superb and add great colors to the film.

After Swadesh, SRK has tried a non-conventional role and I think he succeed once again. I feel SRK must keep trying this kind of off-bit roles as these will help him only to become a versatile actor.

Prathiva Patil not the right one...

Although I am with the opinion of a female President this time. But I certainly believe that Prathiva Patil is not the correct choice. Our President is the first person of our country and it is the responsibility of the Person himself to make this highest post worth on the eyes of everybody inside and outside india. Under no circumstances a person should not make this highest portfolio cheap. But, what is going on with the presidential election is just the opposite. Prathiva, does delivering some wrong and inappropriate statements in the public domain and politicians made this election just as like any other assembly election...

Prathiva should refrain from making any such statements which will drag her into any kind of controversy. She should make her personality such that everybody think twice before making any comment on her. Anyways right now the political alignment is such that she will be chosen the next President. But, I personally believe that she is not the right one.

Aug 14, 07
Now, as Prathiva Patil is the president of India, I want to wish all the very best to her. As well I want to congratulate her to become the first female President. I wish, I would be proved wrong and She will be an exemplary one.

Ganguly, Tendulkar... time for retirement?

I really think it's the time for Ganguly and Tendulkar say bye the international cricket. My personal view is they are great players and they achieved a lot in there long career. But it's really not done that they are blamed by people and media for there poor form and attitude towards the team member.

I think they should understand they have achieved a lot and they don't have anything to prove now. I don't think they have any chance to play in the next world cup after four years. So what is that for they are playing now?

In my opinion they should retire and if they really want to be in touch with cricket, they can easily do so. In fact they can help Indian team and others with their experience.

Mirakkel 3......back with a bang!

Mirakkel, a comedey show aired in 'Zee Bangla' is the best relatily show in the recent time. Infact, it makes me egarly wait for 10 PM for the last three days of the week. I have been a regular viewer of this show from its second term. Thank God! Pune's cable operator airing Zee Bangla for last few months and it gives me the oppertunity to view this show.

Yesterday Mirakkel starts the third term with some changes in it's format. It actually copies same format of a popular tv reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. Now we have three mentors to brush up contestants and three judges. Paramborto, Rudronil and Kanchan are the the best choices without any doubt. I am pretty sure they will add another level to this show.

Althoug I have some doubts regarding one permanent Judge. Poran has to be more consistent with his judging. But, no doubt about 'Ronny Da'. I am sure, he would as colorful as ever. And the third guest judge slot which is for the 'pretty womans' of bengal film fraternity, would be a spice to this show.

All the very best to all of them!!!

Mr. Kalam next President ?

I think Mr. Kalam should not be made the president for the second time. Although, he would be a very good choice for the second term but this will be a shame for us. As this will mean we don't have an alternative presidential role candidate who is as good as Mr. Kalam from the whole political or apolitical fraternity.

Mr. Kalam has completed his tenure quite successfully. But has he really made any significant difference for India's bright future? I think he has played very safe during his tenure by keeping himself out of any kind of controversy. But, as a whole if I have to give him marks for his performance as Persident I would give 6 out of 10.

My perference for Presidential candidate would somebody from the Political fraternity itself. I believe Persident's role is not a mere portfolio. President has to participate in national and international politics concerning to India's interest. He who would be the next president should have a great vision to see India a developed nation in near future.

Anyways let's see who makes it to the top post. My choice would be Somnath Chatterjee.

It's hot out there

Temperature is really a shocking true this time of year in India. I am living in Pune right now and this place is known for it's cool and comfortable weather but I don't think it's true any more. Pune is boiling now-a-days. I can't think of to go for some work on the day time. So the holydays and weekends are really a boring. I need to come to office daily by riding 12 kms every day in the day time and that is the worst part of my life these days. It's really horrible. Sometime I think, I should have those shoes of 'Bhuter Raja' that 'Gupi-Bagha' has.

Anyways, keeping those dreamy thoughts of escaping this hot weather in a side, I think the time has really came to seriously think about it. Global Warming is no more a topic of essay or a sci-fi theme of hollywood movies, it's a reality. I think we need to work on making awareness of Global Warming among people. In fact, one good idea would be Politicians should take this up as there election agenda. It would be really a nice thing.
